During my professional career I have always tried to blend a certain amount of research into my daily activities.
My first job title was 'scientific programmer' which was a nice blend of research and software development, and I have always
tried to maintain that perfect mix of theory and practice.
From 2009 to 2013 I was a visiting researcher at the Vrije Universiteit in
Amsterdam, with the Computational Intelligence Group led by Prof. dr. Guszti Eiben. I investigated the possibilities of
evolving aesthetically pleasing images using evolutionary computation methods, and this research resulted in
a PhD thesis which I
defended on December 12th 2013.
